Yongjing Li was born in China and was welcomed to the US in the 1980s as a visiting scientist. She worked for a number of departments across UW-Madison, including in the School of Veterinary Medicine. Although she was a microscopist by trade, her passions lay in art. She studied Chinese and Western artists, which define Li’s aesthetic. By blending these cultures, she creates beautiful works that are uniquely her style. These pieces have received great acclaim, winning the Wisconsin State Exhibition Award, the James A. Schwalbach Creativity Award, and many Madison-based art awards.
Yongjing’s piece “Winter Shimmer” was created specifically for the SVM Holiday Card. We’re thrilled to be featuring her work, which was created as a message of hope and peace for the future. Yongjing sends her gratitude to the SVM community for sharing this piece and sharing her message of unity.
