Research Program

My lab is focussed on studying the pathophysiology of optic nerve and retinal ganglion cell degeneration with the goal of developing therapeutic approaches to augment treatments for conditions like glaucoma and traumatic injury. Much of this work centers around modulating the activity of members of the BCL2 gene family, which are mediators of mitochondrial-linked intrinsic apoptotic pathway.
