Research
My research centers on infectious diseases of dogs and cats, with a current particular focus on blastomycosis, leptospirosis, and understanding and addressing vaccine hesitancy among pet owners. I am passionate about advancing the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of these conditions to improve patient outcomes and public health.
Responsibilities
I'm responsible for clinical service in Small Animal Internal Medicine at UW Veterinary Care, instruction and mentoring of veterinary students, interns, & residents in the service. With Dr. Julie Walker I co-direct the Small Animal Rotating Internship at UWVC. I also serve as Director of Clinical Assessment, making sure our graduates have the skills they need to be successful new veterinarians.
Clinical Interests
While I love all of small animal internal medicine, I also have a strong interest in interventional radiology, performing minimally invasive procedures such as stent placements and laser resection to offer cutting-edge, patient-centered care. In addition to my clinical work, I'm deeply committed to veterinary education, both for students and house officers. I enjoy developing innovative teaching approaches that prepare future veterinarians for success in clinical practice and beyond.
