Broadly, our research interest is in infectious disease epidemiology through a One Health lens, particularly studying zoonotic and vector borne diseases and infectious diseases that impact underserved companion animal populations. Current studies include characterization of the flea microbiome and flea-borne diseases in free roaming cats, investigating Bartonella species transmission and clinical manifestations in dogs, cats, and people, determining the presence and prevalence of Babesia spp. in dogs in the upper Midwest, and studying transmission and treatment of parvovirus in puppies in collaboration with Acccess to Care community clinics.
