CAVIDS laboratory has a new team member!  Please welcome Dr. Karen Hershberger who is stepping in to the role of Laboratory Director.  Dr. Hershberger brings us a wide range of experience: several years of clinical veterinary practice, including animal shelter work; a strong dedication to teaching veterinary students and veterinary nurses; and a strong interest in viral immunology.  She is a “double doctor” with a PhD in virology from Harvard in addition to her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  CAVIDS is excited to have her, and she looks forward to working with you.

Dr. Larson will be gradually transitioning into retirement after 35 years in the field of veterinary vaccinology.  She feels deep gratitude to have had the opportunity to do this immensely satisfying work, and will likely continue to provide some consulting.  She will miss daily interactions with CAVIDS’ fantastic team and wonderful clientele, but there are hiking trails that need to be explored, and her knees won’t last forever.
