Lyric Bartholomay

Lyric Bartholomay is professor in the Department of Pathobiological Sciences in the School of Veterinary Medicine, and Director of the graduate program in Comparative Biomedical Sciences at The University of Wisconsin- Madison. In 2024 Dr. Bartholomay was awarded the distinguished award of Bernard C. Easterday Professor in Infectious Disease. She is also a board member of the American Heartworm Society and a Fellow with the American Society of Topical Medicine & Hygiene. Her lab focuses on understanding the threat of invasive mosquito species, vector-borne virus discovery in wildlife, and interrogating the impacts of mosquito control on risk of West Nile virus transmission.

Dr. Bartholomay is also a co-director of the Midwest Center of Excellence for Vector-Borne Disease with Dr. Susan Paskewitz. Together they saw need for real world vector-borne disease research and training. The center started in 2016 with ongoing funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  The center brings together researchers, public health experts, and vector control professionals who are working to better understand and control mosquitoes, ticks, and the diseases they carry.
