At the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine, we understand and respect that special bond between animals and their people. Our animal companions bring us comfort and joy, and their unconditional love enriches our lives in more ways than we can count. The bonds that we form with our pets change our lives forever.
Gifts to our Companion Animal Fund can be a way to:
- Express sympathy to a friend on the loss of a cherished companion
- Thank a veterinarian for their exceptional care
- Honor an individual who loves and values animals,
- Welcome a new puppy or kitten home, or
- Celebrate a special birthday — animal or human!
When you make a gift to the Companion Animal Fund, the recipient of your choice will be notified of your donation in their honor.
As stewards of that special bond, the school is committed to doing all we can to ensure that companion animals live longer and healthier lives. Tax-deductible donations to our Companion Animal Fund support a range of critical health care studies by our faculty designed to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of the diseases that afflict companion animals. From cancer care to the genetics of glaucoma and from epilepsy research to the study of pain management, we work every day to advance the health of animals. And sometimes what we learn helps their people, too! Read more about ways the fund has brought tangible improvements to animals in our care and around the world.

Companion Animal Fund Clinic Sponsor Program
When an animal dies, pet owners and their veterinarians face a heart-wrenching loss. You can continue to show your clients how much you care by making a memorial donation to the UW School of Veterinary Medicine through our Companion Animal Fund Clinic Sponsor Program.
How does the program work?
You make a tax-deductible memorial donation (minimum $10 per animal) through a dedicated, secure website. Your client receives a personalized letter from the dean of the UW School of Veterinary Medicine notifying them that your clinic has made a memorial donation to the Companion Animal Fund in memory of their animal companion.
Your clinic can order a clinic sponsor plaque that commemorates your years of participation in the program. Your clinic will also be recognized in the donor honor roll on the School of Veterinary Medicine’s website.
What do my donations support?
Gifts to our Companion Animal Fund support a range of critical health care studies designed to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of the diseases that afflict companion animals. When you make a memorial donation, you reach out to a grieving family and at the same time support vital studies that improve animal health.
How do I get started?
