Over his 30 years as a clinical researcher, Dr Vail has seen tremendous leaps forward in the understanding and treatment of cancer and some of that can be traced back to agriculture research.

Dr. Sandra Newbury is the director of the shelter medicine program at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine. She said when it comes to keeping their pets happy and healthy, dog owners want to take a lesson from the past three years and social distancing.

Mark Markel, dean of the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine, said many vets are no longer willing to work the brutal hours they did in the past.

“There’s never been more applicants to veterinary school than now,” said Markel

Cats can be incredibly picky and sassy when it comes to their food. But with medication flavors, they have little preference, according to a recent study by the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

In recent years, Suzuki’s lab has worked in collaboration with GFI to create a prototype of a beef patty grown from the stem cells of a cow.

Suzuki heads the Suzuki Lab within UW’s School of Veterinary Science. The lab’s research focuses on progenitor stem cells that can rebuild muscle tissue structure. Collaborating with the Good Food Institute, Suzuki’s stem cell research helps develop solutions to current challenges in the rising artificial meat industry, particularly structuring artificial tissue and promoting correct cell development.
