The UW School of Veterinary Medicine Alumni Association (SVMAA) was established July 1, 2022 to support the advancement of the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine through alumni engagement. It replaces the alumni advisory board that was established in 2008.
Our Objectives
Serve
as a voice and channel of communication between SVM alumni and the school.
Highlight
alumni accomplishments and achievements through selection and granting of annual alumni awards.
Partner
with the school in support of student networking and mentorship efforts.
Promote
alumni support for school fundraising priorities including scholarships, facility and equipment improvements, and general fund support.
Support
the school’s efforts to promote the veterinary medical profession to current and potential students.
Encourage
alumni participation in alumni-related events.
All SVM alumni are invited to become members.
There are two ways to join the SVM Alumni Association:
Make a qualifying gift
Donations are strongly recommended but not required. Alumni who make a gift to any School of Veterinary Medicine fund at the UW Foundation are automatically enrolled.
Join without a gift
Sign up to receive member communications. No gift required.
Complete our membership form.
Membership Benefits
- All members who make a $60 minimum gift will receive a special SVMAA branded gift upon initial enrollment (IRS rules require this gift amount)
- Invitation to attend the school’s annual Dean’s Luncheon (held in September)
- Invitation to attend SVMAA meetings
- A great way to have a voice in supporting the school, alumni, and the students

Our Greatest Needs
Support the school's teaching, research and service missions with the flexibility to meet urgent needs.
Student Scholarships
Benefit DVM and graduate student scholarships and other educational enrichment opportunities.
Forward Together
Support the installation of a sculpture by John Hallett DVM'90 that highlights education, research and community at the SVM.
Meetings
All members are invited to listen to or attend SVMAA meetings, which will be held at least three times a year, either in person, virtually, or in a hybrid format.
The board may open up discussion during the meeting to all association members at the board’s discretion.

The next SVMAA meeting will be on October 7, 2024 at 7:00 PM Central.
