Student and Peer Assessment of Teaching

Tips from SVM instructors

Student course evaluations and feedback:  A well constructed course evaluation is the best way to find out whether or not the methods you are using are working from a student point of view.  While it isn't the only way to judge a course's effectiveness (i.e., Peer Review), it's hard to imagine that we wouldn't take student response seriously.  After all, if the course isn't working for them, what's the point?

Peer review of teaching:  The student point of view is not the only one that can be helpful to the teacher or to the school.  Peer review is especially important in evaluating the appropriateness of course content and context.
