External trauma (i.e. abrasion of cornea)
Usually involves common saprophytes, or normal flora
- Aspergillus
- Fusarium
- Candida albicans
Inflammation to eye can be damaging

- Debride eye - make a smear, stain for bacteria and fungi
Identification
- Specific id requires culture. Need to determine if it is a contaminant or actual etiologic agent.
Treatment
- Difficult to get drugs into that site. Topical pimaricin, steroids to control inflammation
