Shown here is a Gram stain of Bacillus organisms. Remember that Bacillus cells are very large, and are capable of forming endospores under proper environmental conditions.

Virtually all Bacillus sp. form very large colonies. The colonies are usually rough or irregular appearing, and have a grayish white color.
