C-L-E-A-R bacteria: room temperature motility
This slide demonstrates the appearance of a positive or motile organism (right) which appears
hazy at the top of the media, and a negative or non-motile organism (left) in which the organism
only grows on the stab line. Only
Listeria is motile
at room temperature.
It characteristically produces an umbrella-shaped motility growth pattern in the growth media.
This growth pattern is very difficult to discern. Be sure to ask an instructor for help in interpreting
your results.
