UW Veterinary Care (UWVC)

The SVM Personal and Wellness Support Services (PAWSS) is available to provide support services to clients in the UWVC, including emotional support and information for clients struggling with difficult decisions, euthanasia, etc. We also offer consultation to clinicians, students, and staff in the teaching hospital regarding communication and relationship skills with clients, such as breaking difficult news and how to offer emotional support. Clinicians, students, and staff are encouraged to offer PAWSS services to clients as needed and to contact our office regarding specific cases.

School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM)

The PAWSS office offers wellness support and short-term counseling to students in the SVM regarding personal concerns or concerns that are impacting students’ academic success. We can also facilitate a referral to UW Counseling & Consultation Services or community agencies for longer-term counseling. Please contact us at 890-1608 for an appointment.

The PAWSS office is also available to offer presentations and facilitate discussions in the SVM community on communication and wellness topics. Examples include: Coping With Stress, Breaking Difficult News to Clients, Helping Clients with Decision-Making, Improving Communication and Relationships, or other topics upon request.
