Clinical Rotations - Advanced Techniques in Dairy Records and Nutrition

Advanced Computer Analyses and Ration Formulation

Learn to:

  • Set up a dairy herd health recording system using the DairyComp 305 computer program
  • Maintain and update the database with new information
  • Generate action lists and management reports about the herd
  • Interpret feedstuff analysis reports
  • Analyze diets using different nutritional software packages
  • Reformulate dairy diets

This course has two primary topics. The first is to develop practical skills in setting up, using and maintaining a computerized dairy record system, specifically DairyComp 305. This will be taught primarily as a computer lab.

The second is to develop skills in detailed, quantitative ration evaluation and re-formulation
