Introduction

The Basic Science Course in Veterinary and Comparative Ophthalmology will be held at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine, from June 2 - 20, 2008. The course will provide the participant with intensive instruction in ophthalmic anatomy, embryology, immunology, physiology, pharmacology, microbiology, histopathology, and diagnostic and examination techniques. The course is intended to provide a foundation of scientific knowledge in these areas for clinical and research applications in veterinary and comparative ophthalmology. Lecture and laboratory sessions, developed by an international faculty with expertise in these areas, will be given.

The Histologic Basis of Ocular Disease Short Course will be held in conjunction with the Basic Science Course. It is a team-taught course in the histopathology of congenital, dystrophic, degenerative, and infectious and neoplastic disease affecting the animal eye. Individual instruction is emphasized. Participants in the Basic Science Course will attend this session, and additionally, this session is open to veterinary pathology residents and veterinary pathologists with an interest in ocular pathology.

Enrollment for both courses is limited, and priority will be given to individuals in approved ACVO and ECVO residency programs. Questions regarding the course may be directed to:
