Welcome

There may be a language barrier for those who are not native English speakers, which may lead to very vague and uncertain concept of what is “Basic Science”. There is no corresponding term in many European languages. In Swedish, “Basic Science” is referred to as “Pre-Clinical Topics”, meaning roughly the same as American “Basic Science”. It may well be the case that non-English speaking speakers do not see the difference between a “Basic Science” course (i.e. a course dealing with basic science) and a basic course of science (i.e., basic course of Veterinary Ophthalmology). One example of this mix-up is when applying for stipends to attend.

THEREFORE, IT IS ADVISED THAT APPLICANTS IN THE NORDIC COUNTRIES CALL THIS A “SCIENCE COURSE OF OPHTHALMOLOGY”, otherwise you may be denied financial support because the course is labeled only “basic”.
