Animal Research Technician (Obj/Sen/Adv)

Pay Range: $12.467 - $14.598

Schedule Comment:
Short term project lasting 4-8 weeks. Overtime paid over 40 hours.

Position Summary:
Immediate vacancy for several positions working in surgical research laboratory at the School of Veterinary Medicine. This is a 4-8 week long research project beginning as early as 7/14/08.

Previous experience as a veterinary technician or with animal research is desired (especially experience with pigs).

This job requires the physical strength to lift and carry 50 pounds. Some weekends required.

Goals and Worker Activities:

100% Technician will perform various duties including but not limited to:

1. Administering anesthesia, as well as test and control materials by various routes, including intravenous, intramuscular, and subcutaneous injections, sample, and blood and tissue collection.

2. Technician will also be responsible for general animal husbandry and observation as well as gathering and reviewing experimental data.
