Setting Up the Phaser8550 on a Mac with OS X
***Instructions may vary depending on what version of OS X you are using.***
***These directions were made with OS 10.4***
1. Go to the Share drive and open the Drivers folder. Next open the Mac folder then the Phaser8550 folder. Run the Phaser 8550 Installer file. You will be prompted to enter your administrative password to continue installing the drivers.
2. Click Continue on the Xerox window that opens up. Next click on Accept and then click on Install.
3. After this installation of the drivers is done, a webpage will open asking to register. You do not need to register! Just close the webpage.
4. Next open up your hard drive and go into the Applications folder. Drag both the Xerox and the Xerox Support Centre folders to the Trash. You can also drag the Xerox icon off of your Dock.
Reboot your Mac!!
5. Once your computer has rebooted, go to your Dock and open your Printer Setup Utility (if it is not on the Dock, it will be located on your hard drive in the Applications: Utilities folder).
6. Once the Printer List window opens you should delete the Tek860 printer by highlighting the Tek860 and then clicking on Delete.
7. Next click on Add. Click on IP Printer at the top of the next Printer Browser window. Make sure that Line Printer Daemon - LPD is selected as the Protocol.

8. Enter svm_print.vetmed.wisc.edu in the Address field. Enter phaser8550 into the Queue field. Change the Name to Phaser8550. Next click on the Print Using drop down menu and select Xerox. The model you need to choose is Xerox Phaser 8550DT. Click on Add.
9. Another window will open up. Click on Continue. You can now close the Printer Setup Utility.
The Phaser8550 is now installed.
