Employment

The UW School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) periodically posts openings for a wide variety of positions, including tenure-track faculty, clinical faculty and instructors, residents and interns, professionals, postdoctoral and graduate students, and veterinary technicians. To aid employment-seekers in their searches, positions are broken down into categories below. For a detailed explanation of employee categories, please visit http://jobs.wisc.edu/employment.htm

Classified Positions

This category includes positions that are also found throughout Wisconsin State agencies. Examples at UW-Madison include: professional administrative, clerical, blue collar, trades, information processing, and technical positions. These positions also are posted on the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Classified Staff employment page.

Faculty Positions

This category includes tenure-track faculty positions. You can view and search tenure-track faculty listings on UW-Madison’s Faculty employment page.

Professional, Research, Instructional & Administrative Positions

This category includes employees broadly categorized as “academic staff.” In the SVM, this includes clinical faculty, clinical instructors, researchers, administrators, and other professional staff. These vacancies require a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and are posted on UW-Madison’s Academic Staff employment page.

Veterinary Technician Positions

The SVM accepts applications from qualified Veterinary Technicians on an on-going basis. These positions require certification (or eligibility to obtain) by the State of Wisconsin as a Veterinary Technician.

To apply, download the veterinary technician forms from the Application Materials list to the right.
