Surgical Sciences
The Department of Surgical Sciences consists of about 30 faculty and staff members involved in teaching veterinary students, training residents, and graduate students, research, and providing clinical services and community outreach in the following disciplines
Residency Training Programs:
Currently, the Department offers thirty six courses to the DVM students each year. Approximately fifteen residents and graduate students are in training in the various disciplines within the Department in any given year. The Department is involved in the ongoing research of topics such as

Community outreach services provided by the Department include presentations to schools, kennel/pony clubs, and other interested community groups. To facilitate the clinical training of students and residents, the Department maintains a close relationship with the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. All faculty members participate in providing clinical services through the VMTH.
The Department of Surgical Sciences faculy members are actively involved in the activities of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesiologists, the American College of Veterinary Radiologists, and the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.
