 Large animal expansion

Our Large Animal Hospital needs to expand to provide unequalled facilities and service to horses, cattle, and production animals.

We already have outstanding capabilities for neonatal care, management of elite cattle, and unequalled diagnostic facilities. By expanding existing facilities, we can offer even more complete services to a larger group of clientele. We envision a facility that pushes the envelope of care, incorporating the following:

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT)

For detailed diagnosis of musculoskeletal problems, done in standing, sedated and anesthetized horses

Treadmill facility

Dynamic endoscopy and treadmill evaluation of lameness and disease of the cardiovascular and pulmonary systems (heart and lungs)

Indoor arena

For year-round neurologic and lameness examinations in a facility that allows evaluation in hand and under saddle

Isolation suites

Specialized area for newborn and orphan foals and calves

Expanded facilities that allow better care of adult horses and cattle

Specialized equipment

Digital radiography to provide better images and easier communication among clients, referring veterinarians, and the VMTH

Lasers for specialized surgeries

Pool recovery systems for safer recovery of fracture patients

Continued use of the slings and float tanks used to support critically ill adult horses and cattle

Updated facilities

For diagnosis and treatment of reproductive disorders

Larger stalls to safely handle large bulls and cows

Intensive care suite – dedicated for animals that need round-the-clock critical care and observation

Improved loading area – a sheltered, safe area for unloading and loading large animal patients

When you walk into our clinic, you will feel the difference. Spacious facilities designed with the appearance of an equine facility provide a comfortable environment for you as well as for staff that are responsive and ready to serve you with the latest diagnostic and treatment methods.

You direct the extent of treatment, but can rest assured that the very best is available to you if you choose. With the completion of these facilities, we will have the opportunity to continue as the premier large animal referral facility in the Midwest. We look forward to the opportunity to serve at the highest levels of excellence.
