The Department of Comparative Biosciences is actively involved in the research and teaching missions of the School of Veterinary Medicine. Our faculty have established vigorous, well-funded research programs, investigating important problems of basic biomedical research at multiple levels of biological organization (molecular to whole animal).

All faculty members of the department contribute to the veterinary medical curriculum, offering courses in:

  • anatomy
  • histology
  • physiology
  • biochemistry
  • cell biology
  • pharmacology
  • toxicology

In addition, as part of our research and teaching missions, faculty actively participate in training graduate students and postdoctoral trainees.

Currently, the Department consists of fifteen faculty members, six lecturers, four research scientists, two postdoctoral graduate students, seven postdoctoral trainees, twenty graduate students, sixteen additional academic staff (research and instructional), and one department administrator.
