 4th Year Information

4th Year Planning Information
The 4th year curriculum includes 48-weeks of clinical instruction which begins in mid May, just after completion of the 3rd year in the program and is completed just prior to graduation the following May.  The 4th year curriculum is designed to allow individual students the opportunity to 1) customize their education to meet their career objectives and 2) support the student in preparation for passing the North America Veterinary Licensing Examination.
Each 4th year student designs his/her 4th year schedule to meet their personal career goals.  The student selects one of five career track options:  Food Animal, Large Animal, Mixed Animal, Small Animal, or Other (career goals not represented by the other 4 options).  Each career option includes specific required rotation taken in the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital and significant time for electives that meet the individual needs and goals of the student.  Students may elect to include time away for the School (externship) in other instructional settings that contribute to their career goals.
